What Is Pool Deck Cleaning?

A pool deck gets green and slick fast, and that’s a fall waiting to happen. We clean concrete, pavers and coping so the deck is bright, safe to walk on and ready for summer.

Pool deck cleaning is a deep clean of everything around your pool: concrete, stamped concrete, pavers, travertine, coping and the walkways leading to it. We get rid of the slippery green, the black spots and the dirt ground into the surface, and we keep everything pool safe while we do it.

What We Clean

  • Concrete, stamped concrete and pavers
  • Coping, steps and surrounding walkways
  • Algae, mildew and slippery spots
  • Patio furniture and screen enclosures on request
  • Pool safe rinse so nothing ends up in your water

Signs You Need It

  • Green or black film around the pool
  • Slippery spots near the steps and coping
  • Dark joints between pavers
  • Dirt and stains that won’t come off with a hose

Why Pool Deck Cleaning Matters in East Tennessee

Pool decks around here sit wet and shaded half the year, so algae and mildew grow fast once the cover goes on in the fall. By spring the deck is green, stained and slick, right when the kids want to swim.

That slick film is a real safety issue. A clean deck gives bare feet better grip, looks better in every picture, and keeps dirt from tracking into your pool water.

Concrete, Pavers and Stone

Brushed concrete is the most common pool deck around here and cleans up evenly with a surface cleaner. Stamped and colored concrete need lower pressure so the sealer and color stay put. Pavers need care so the sand in the joints doesn’t wash out, and we can tell you if any joints need a top off afterward.

Travertine and natural stone are softer and need gentle pressure and stone safe cleaners. Whatever your deck is made of, the goal is the same: clean, bright and not slippery for bare feet.

How We Do It, Step by Step

  1. Protect the pool. We move furniture, protect the pool edge and plan our rinse so dirty water stays out of your pool.
  2. Pre-treat. Algae and mildew get a pre-treatment so they let go of the surface.
  3. Surface clean. We clean the deck evenly with a surface cleaner, adjusted for pavers or stamped concrete.
  4. Detail. Coping, steps, drains and corners get detailed by hand.
  5. Rinse away. Everything is rinsed away from the water and we check the deck before we leave.

What to Expect

  • Before we come: close windows and doors, and move cars, grills and patio furniture out of the way if you can.
  • Pets: keep them inside until we’re done and things dry.
  • Water: make sure the outside spigot works. That’s all we need from you.
  • On the day: we text you when we’re on the way and when we’re done, with photos.
  • After: everything is rinsed and ready to use the same day.

Pool Deck Cleaning FAQ

Will cleaning get chemicals in my pool?

We rinse away from the water and keep things pool safe. You might want to check your levels after, like after any good rain.

When is the best time to clean a pool deck?

Spring, right before you open the pool, is the most popular. We can do it any time of year though.

Can you clean pavers without washing out the sand?

Yes. We adjust our pressure for pavers and can tell you if any joints need fresh sand afterward.

Do I need to drain or cover my pool?

No. We work so the dirty water runs away from the pool. If your cover is on, even better.

Can you clean travertine and natural stone?

Yes, with lower pressure and gentle cleaners made for stone.

Can you clean my pool furniture too?

Yes. Chairs, tables and screen enclosures can be added on. Just ask when you book.

Do I need to be home?

Nope. As long as we can get to the outside, the water spigot works and pets are inside, you can be at work. We’ll text you before we start and when we’re done.

Do you use my water?

Usually, yes. We hook up to your outside spigot. A typical job uses about what a few loads of laundry would, so it barely moves your water bill. On well water? Tell us when you book and we’ll plan around it.

What if it rains?

Light rain doesn’t hurt the cleaning at all. If a real storm rolls in we’ll text you and reschedule.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We’re fully licensed and insured for residential and commercial work, and we’re happy to send a certificate of insurance.
